Face Study by WurdBendur Face Study by WurdBendur
WHY IS IT THAT CATEGORIES DO NOT EXIST FOR MOST OF THE WORK I'VE BEEN DOING LATELY? And this is just a regular old high relief sculpture. It's not a bust because it's only the face. Whatever.

This was done in Sculpey III in probably a couple hours. I was just kind of playing around to see what I could get. My first attempt actually started as a pinch pot which I closed off (like a balloon) and attempted to sculpt in the round. That was interesting! As I worked on one part, all the other parts would change shape and lose their detail. So I scrapped it and started working with a solid chunk. I then carved out the back before baking it.

Okay, this is actually my first attempt at a sort of realistic-looking face, so I guess it's not too bad. And I suck with Sculpey. These were some of the better pictures I was able to get, but they would look much better if the camera hadn't been so close.

The whole thing is 3 inches from top to bottom.
